KIDDS ORANGE RED APPLE

Kidd’s Orange Red is named after its raiser James Hutton Kidd who was a passionate apple grower living in New Zealand. Kidd’s Orange Red was originally a cross with Cox’s Orange Pippin as one of its parents. It has all the superb qualities of a Cox without the problems associated with Cox. Often found in supermarkets and sold as a Cox apple. The fruit of Kidd’s Orange Red have a bright orange red flush on its skin with occasional slight russeting. Thin skinned with a crisp bite and cream yellow coloured flesh that releases the delicious flavour that is some bit sweeter than Cox. A reliable cropper without too many problems make Kidd’s Orange Red a good choice which keeps well until the New Year.

Our Apple Kidd’s Orange Red bare rooted trees are lifted at the start of the bare root season in November, when the apple trees become dormant, and made available through to March the following year. This period is the ideal time for economical planting. You will however have to wait a year to pick your crop as bare root trees cannot be picked in their first year. For all year round planting why not choose from our selection of container grown apple trees. They do cost more but are older, more established and ready to crop.

Available in economy and premium selection

Economy - rooted into its pot but a further season before moving up a pot size.
Premium - more growth in its pot. More mature than Economy
