NATIVE & NATURALISED PLANTS

Botanica is a traditional English working nursery, growing one of the largest and varied ranges of British provenance native and natural landscape plants. It is tempting for the customer to buy cheaper plants that although labelled “native”, may have been imported or grown in this country from provenance which is not British. These plants are genetically different and can endanger our wildlife. For example, continental plants flower at different times to those grown in Britain, meaning insects are not available as food at crucial times e.g., when wildlife are rearing their young.

We are careful to ensure our seed stock can be traced to Forestry Commission regions of provenance and seed zones in Great Britain. We also collect seed from East Anglian sources and can name the master trees our heritage collection comes from.

Our plants are grown naturally in the soil or in pots using a natural non-peat based compost. You can contribute to the health of our wildlife by buying English grown, British origin plants. Professional horticulturalists and organisations such as English Heritage, National Trust and numerous parks, gardens and arboretums across GB agree with us and source their plants from Botanica.

PLANTING SERVICE

We offer a full planting service, in and around East Anglia, for all our trees and plants, working in areas from town gardens, to large estates with plants that range from a single tree, to whole woodlands and everything in between.
